The history of the Board of Secondary Education Rajasthan (BSER) is a remarkable panorama of progressive record of the futurological vision for developing a dynamic system of various sub-systems of examinations and highlights of the academic excellence of the last four decades. The BSER took rapid strides for promotion and development of Secondary Education in Rajasthan, spread over 3,42,239 sq. km. and in more than 6000 schools located in 32 districts involving 8.5 lakhs students for Secondary and Senior Secondary Examination in the year 2000.Â
With the promulgation of the Rajasthan Secondary Education Act in 1957, this Board of Secondary Education Rajasthan was set up in Jaipur on 4th Dec, 1957. It was shifted to Ajmer in 1961. In the year 1973 BSER began functioning in its present multistoried building with an enchanting dignity of its own with all amenities.

The Board of Secondary Education Rajasthan ensure that the development of the students should not remain confined to academic or textual area and for this board organize many activities like. Prizes are also awarded to students to encourge them in taking part in these activities.
Creative writing, Elocution- Debate, Quiz competitions, Drawing and Music etc.A Personality development camps are also organized by the Board to boost the self- confidence and positively of outlook in the students of the merit lists related to the Board examination. These camp aims at developing the communication ability among the students.

The results for the XII class Rajasthan Board Senior Secondary examination 2009, Commerce stream, were announced on May 18th, 2009 and the results for class XII, Science, BSER were announced on May 26, 2009 The results for the  Board of Secondary Education Rajasthan Arts stream XII class results were declared on June 10, 2009.
